ARRPE's Pre-Conference Seminar

The Association for Rehabilitation Research, Policy and Education (ARRPE) will be offering two pre-conference workshops on May 20, 2025, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Memorial Union. The workshops are designed to provide hands on training and resources to rehabilitation professionals that can be applied directly to rehabilitation practice. The morning session, “A Trauma Informed Approach to Working with Justice Involved Individuals with Disabilities to Increase Employment Outcomes” introduces a toolkit that practitioners and researchers can use to address trauma with the goal of increasing career development and employment outcomes.

The afternoon session “Applying an Evidence Supported Model to Vocational Earning Capacity Assessment” will focus on forensic vocational analysis and provide hands on training on how to apply the Illinois Work and Well-Being Model to evaluate vocational loss of earnings. Case studies will be utilized to provide attendees with hands on experience applying the model to forensic vocational analysis. Continuing education credits from CRCC will be available to all attendees. The cost to attend is $50 per workshop and $75 if individuals would like to attend both workshops.

The morning workshop “A Trauma Informed Approach to Working with Justice Involved Individuals with Disabilities to Increase Employment Outcomes” will be held from 9am to noon and the afternoon session “Applying an Evidence Supported Model to Vocational Earning Capacity Assessment” will be held from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.

During this session, presenters will provide a brief background on ethics in rehabilitation counseling and provide the results of an open-ended survey completed by rehabilitation professionals who were asked to provide what they believe are currently the most salient and emerging ethical issues that students in rehabilitation counseling programs need to understand and provide classroom strategies and examples on how to present and discuss these issues with students.
