This training outlines a comprehensive training program, AIR4VR PRE-ETS, designed to enhance the competence of rehabilitation counselors in delivering Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), with a focus on youth aged 14-16. Led by Project Director Margaret Glenn and Co-PI Elisabeth Simpson from West Virginia University Research Corporation, the goals include providing a training mechanism for new employees, serving as a refresher for existing Pre-ETS practitioners, involving mentors and supervisors in the training process, and disseminating courses widely. The training covers fundamental principles of vocational rehabilitation (VR) and history, as well as three courses addressing the specific needs of adolescents with disabilities, counseling strategies, and engaging employers to support Pre-ETS efforts. The program emphasizes skill enhancement exercises and aims to establish a Community of Practice for continued collaboration.
