Data Literacy and Performance of the VR Program

About this Session

This training focuses on the importance of data literacy within Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) programs, offering insights into how the integration of data can transform service delivery and outcomes. The presentation traces the evolution of data use in VR from a time of minimal reliance on data to the present, where data literacy is recognized as a critical skill. Participants will explore the role of data in setting measurable goals, creating a data-driven agency culture, and improving VR performance. Drawing inspiration from W. Edwards Deming’s famous quote, “Without data, you’re just another person with an opinion,” the training emphasizes the power of data to drive informed decision-making and improve services for individuals with disabilities.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the significance of data literacy in the VR program and how it can enhance the effectiveness of service provision and performance tracking.
  • Learn strategies to promote data literacy as an essential skill for all VR professionals, empowering them to read, analyze, and communicate with data to support a data-driven culture.
